LET UTAH DIVISION OF AIR QULAITY KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE ALTON COAL
STRIP MINE! The Utah Division of Air Quality is currently
accepting public comments and holding a hearing in Panguitch, Utah to hear what we have to say about Alton Coal Mine's air
quality permit. This is one of the last chances we will have as locals to tell our state officials that we do not want a coal
strip mine polluting our air, contaminating our water and making our soil unfit for agriculture. It's also one of our last chances to protect Bryce Canyon National Park's world-reknowned bright
and clear night skies, as well as the integrity of all other National Parks that are accessed via the proposed haul route
for the mine. Not to mention the Historic Downtown Panguitch district, a cultural treasure of Utah. In southern Utah, we depend
on ranching and tourism for most of our revenue, and it's our right to protect the economic stability of our community. We
do not want to be dependant on coal, a dirty energy source that is falling in value and isn't sustainable. Please join us for the public comment hearing on Alton Coal Mine's air quality permit: Date: Wednesday, October 6th Time:
6-8 p.m. Where: Panguitch High School Auditorium,390
East 100 South, Panguitch, Utah Or submit your written
comments to the Executive Secretary of the Air Quality Board by emailing jlblack@utah.gov
